About European Genre Forum

European Genre Forum is a pan-european project organized by Black Nights Film Festival from Tallinn (among 15 world A festivals); Imagine Film Festival from Amsterdam (biggest festival for fantastic film in the Netherlands); Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival (largest genre festival in the SEE region) and film consultancy company Screen Division from Paris.

The main goal of this international project is to connect young and upcoming, as well as already proven, European film talents. Producers, directors, screenwriters and others i.e. development, promotion and financial support of film, television and web projects with a strong European and regional focus, as well as international co-productions beyond European framework through cooperation with European film funds, national film centers, production studios etc. The European Genre Forum (EGF) is an training programme that sets to boost the careers of future European players in the genre film industry through three talent labs, packed with trainings, panels mentoring and pitching sessions. The Director’s Lab takes place in Amsterdam during the Imagine Film Festival, in April 2019, The Producer’s Lab takes place in Zagreb during Fantastic Zagreb in July 2019. The Packaging Lab takes place in Tallinn during PÖFF, in the final week of November 2019.

During these three talent labs, the eight chosen film projects will be able to discuss their ideas with script consultants, learn about the different aspects of (co-) production, sales and packaging from Industry professionals. Mentoring sessions with established genre filmmakers, crowd funders, legal experts, VR and AR experts, and case studies of recent, successful films complete the programme.
